Overview

Cooking is a crafting mechanic in Hammerwatch 2 that allows players to create additional food items that may be either consumed to instantly replenish resources, or provide a temporary buff for a short-to-medium amount of time. Many of the food items created by cooking can also be purchased at certain vendors throughout the world. Ingredients for cooking may be found, dropped by enemies, and purchased from vendors throughout the game.

Please note this page does NOT cover all consumables only those used as ingredients for, or crafted by, Cooking.

Tip: Instant consumables may be bound to keys (ex. 4, 5) via the Action Menu (ctrl) and used on-the-go to supplement potions for recovery

Requirements

Cooking requires a cooking crafting station and a frying pan.

Crafting Station

Cooking crafting stations are represented on the minimap as a white cauldron on a teal background, and appear as stoves or campfires in-game.
Cooking crafting stations may be located many places in the world in both combat and non-combat (i.e. town/house) zones.

Frying Pan

A frying pan may be crafted at a workbench for 1 Wood Plank and 2 Metal Bars, or purchased from various vendors for 250 gold.
Equivalent of 5 Wood Scrap and 10 Iron Ore. Crafting at a workbench.
Frying pans are not consumed during cooking, and only one is required for a player to cook at a crafting station.

Ingredients

Ingredients (or Reagents) are used in cooking blueprints. Some ingredients may be consumed by themselves for minor benefits, while others are inert by themselves. Ingredients that are 'grown' in such as apples on trees, potatoes, carrots, etc. will naturally re-spawn as game-time passes. Similarly, sheep and other docile animals that drop cooking ingredients will naturally re-spawn over time. Many ingredients can also be found randomly in breakable boxes and containers throughout the world.

Some ingredients may require a crafting step.

Note: Sales price to merchants is 40% of base price. Purchase price from merchants is 110% base price (i.e. 10% over base price)

Crafted Ingredients

Several ingredients require another stage of crafting from base materials, unless purchased directly from a vendor.

Flour

Flour can be crafted by the miller NPC named Farmer Leo for 10 wheat and 50g
Farmer Leo will take several seconds to mill the wheat into it before returning, and can only process one bag of flour at a time

Currently, crafting flour is bugged.
Farmer Leo will take your whole stack of wheat as long as it is larger than 10, and 50g. He will return with 19 flour.
To avoid this issue, it is recommended that players split their wheat into a stack of 10 and drop the extra before turning in.
This is a known, reported issue.

Farmer Leo can be found in the south-east outskirts of the Royal City of Aventurine standing in front of a windmill during the day
Farmer Leo appears as a question mark surrounded by a green border on the minimap

Honey

Scully the Unkempt can produce one jar of honey from 10 stingers
Stingers can be found as drops from the wasps/hornets in the southwest of the Fallowfields
Scully the Unkempt appears during the daytime, after having killed the bandits. The bandits do not re-spawn.
The NPC will perform this task for free after you have killed the enemy bandits outside of her home
Scully the Unkempt can be found directly west of the Royal City of Aventurine, outside her house by the river
Scully the Unkempt appears as a yellow dot on the minimap (the zone is called "West Fallowfields")

Blueprints

The following blueprints may be crafted at any normal cooking station. Blueprints are not dropped, "learned" or consumed but instead innate to the crafting stations.

Special Blueprints

As of this writing unique location-based cooking blueprints have not been discovered in-game, however Item ID's exist for several (Apple Pie, Beef Stew, Carrot Cake, Venison). The in-game crafting guide notes the following:

...Each crafting site has blueprints and lets you see everything that is craftable at that specific site. What is available to craft may vary from site to site so if what you need is not available you can try a different location.

Excluded Consumables

As noted above, some consumables and/or reagents are not listed on this page, as they are not currently used in any cooking blueprints, or as a precursor to craft cooking reagents for cooking blueprints.

This includes: Purple Grapes, Antidote, Mana Pyramids, etc.
